"Follow This Wave"

The "Surfy Space" was established in 2022 and is operated by the Hyper Wave Art Group. The space is located in the city center of Luodong in Yilan, Taiwan, adjacent to the Luodong Night Market and the train station. The area is known for its vibrant commercial activity and rich cultural atmosphere. This space, with a contemporary art perspective, invites domestic and international artists, curators, and cultural professionals to reside and engage in activities such as artist residencies, discussions, exhibitions, local research, and creative endeavors. It has become a platform connecting local culture with international art.

Hyper Wave was formed by a group of like-minded artists and art professionals who were finalists in the 2020 Ministry of Culture's " Made In Taiwan" project. The initial members of the group included Shih-Hsiang Tsai, Yu-Hao Hong, Chieh-Sen Chiu, Szu-Ying Lin, Margot Guillemot, and Pei-Chun Lai. Feeling the changes and uncertainties in contemporary society, they consider themselves art wanderers and hope to place the characteristics of contemporary art creation in various social settings and environments to initiate more profound and multi-faceted dialogues. The group name, "Hyper Wave," is also their aspiration – to become the creators of waves in the present and the future.
